The Aspholm’s – flooring for their kids wheelchairs
This was a job that was brought to us by one of our builders, originally they were the ones contracted to do the majority of the renovation, and they asked us to price out the flooring part of it.
I was then put in touch with 102.3 Now! Radio; Fitzy, a Now host, originally brought their situation to light when he organized a bottle drive a year ago. I had actually heard about their situation on the radio, which is part of what made me want to help them that much more. Now! Radio had the majority of the information required for the job, including contact info of the homeowners, so I was in contact with them for a large portion of their renovation process.
The Aspholm’s were originally looking at a laminate floor, and we were able to upgrade them to a vinyl plank material, which is much more durable for their kids wheelchairs to move over, commercially rated without looking like a hospital floor, as well as being waterproof.
We ended up donating this vinyl plank, which was about 832sf in total. They only required 725sf for their existing space, however they were looking at doing an addition in the future, which the balance of the material would cover.
This type of vinyl plank was great for them, because it is so easy to install that it allowed them to do it themselves, saving even more money for them.
