Recent donation to Little Warriors
Dear Action Flooring,
Thank you so very much for your recent donation to Little Warriors. It is truly appreciated.
I wanted to share with you part of a message we recently received from a mom of one of the children that has graduated from the Be Brave Ranch year-long treatment program:
“Our daughter was in one of the first groups to go to the Ranch. Before she went she was scared, hurting and really didn’t want to go. She was having panic attacks daily, flashbacks that led to screaming and door slamming and was having suicidal thoughts and cutting herself. There were lots of tears and yelling. Her dad and I felt very helpless and scared for her. It was extremely hard watching her in pain. She saw herself as dirty, unlovable and was pushing those who loved her away. She could never just relax and be a kid. Throughout the program at the Ranch, we saw lots of ups and downs. Every time she came home from the Ranch she was raw, like the scab had been ripped off. After the 3rd time at the Ranch we saw some real changes in her. She sounded hopeful, was getting excited about normal child like things and was using more coping mechanisms. It was exciting to see her growing. We could see glimpses of the beautiful girl she was meant to be. Now that her time at the Ranch is done, I can only say she is AMAZING. She is open with her dad and I, she has dreams and hopes for the future, she has become more involved in activities. She developed many relationships with other kids she met at the Ranch and keeps in touch with them. I think it helped her to know there were other people who “just get her”. I can’t thank the Little Warriors Ranch and everyone who has invested time into our daughters life over the past year enough. I feel like we have our little girl back and there is hope. I am enjoying watching her become a young lady and can’t wait to see where her life leads her.”
We recently had our 4th Annual Be Brave Luncheon and we played a slide show to a song written by one of our past board members. The song is titled bright shiny star and is sung by an 8 year old child. The words of the song ring so true after reading what the mother of the child sent to us. I invite you to listen to it here.
Because of donors just like you, we were able to build a place for children to receive long term treatment for child sexual abuse. We couldn’t have done it without the support of generous people just like you.
Noteworthy Information from Little Warriors this month
You are invited to join us at our First Annual Little Warriors Invitational Golf Tournament at Belvedere Golf & Country Club on September 21st. Registration is $185 per golfer or $700 for a foursome. View registration details here.
Looking ahead to September and the annual United Way Campaign that raises millions for charities just like us, it is important to note that Little Warriors does not currently receive funding from United Way. Did you know that if your company is involved in a United Way campaign; you can still choose Little Warriors to receive your donation? The option of designating to specific agencies is an added service that United Way provides to their donors.
If you have any questions for me, or would like more information on Little Warriors or the Be Brave Ranch, please do not hesitate to reply to this email or give me a call:) Have a great week!
